OVERVIEW
Strafford is a part of the rapidly growing Ozarks region of the county. Our community is located just off I-44 (exit 88 - just past Springfield, MO), which provides a diversity of potential customers each day. Strafford is a major transportation center in the Ozarks with several freight companies located within the city limits.

Strafford's population continues to grow rapidly. As you look at Strafford as a potential location for your business, you will quickly see the many new homes and subdivisions being built throughout the city limits.

Strafford will announce many new business that are coming to our town. Many new and exciting developments are happening. In the next few years, Strafford is going to become an increasingly important neighbor to Springfield and many of the surrounding communities.

POPULATION
During the 2010 national census, Strafford reached a population of 2,358 people.
The median age of a Strafford citizen is 32.

CITY PARKS
The Strafford Sports Complex was purchased by the City of Strafford in March of 2011. This sprawling, four diamond complex has been utilized for many years here in Strafford, and with the help of the Springfield-Greene County park taxes (and perhaps a federal grant), many of the improvements that it is in desperate need of will start being made immediately. The SSC is on Route 66, just east of town. Click here to visit its page, which will also be receiving a facelift in the months to come.

Howard Smith Community Park offers two pavilions for picnics and meetings, two sets of playground equipment and slides, several charcoal grills, a 1/3 mile walking track with a very large grassy area in the middle, and a "sprayground" for children to play in during the summer months. Howard Smith Community Park is located on Bumgarner Road, about a quarter mile off Madison Ave. between Red Bud Ave. and Summeadow Drive.

Croxdale Park offers a pavilion for picnics, meetings, a playground for the kids, and plenty of trees to shade you on those hot days in July. It is found on the north side of town behind the TA truck stop on Airport Road. The park includes swings, baby swings, slides, covered picnic tables, rest rooms, and a large grassy area. The City of Strafford Park Committee meets at the City Hall on the first Tuesday of each month. Richard Lynge is the chairperson of the committee, and Loren "Lou" Curtis serves as the Strafford Parks Director.

WEATHER
The warmest month in Strafford is July with an average temperature of 89. The hottest day recorded in Strafford ocurred in 1954 at 110. The coldest month in Strafford is usually January with an average low temperature of 22. The coldest recorded temperature in Strafford was -22 degrees in 1985. May is the wettest month in Strafford with an average rainfall of 4.63 inches.

If threatening weather approaches the Strafford area, the old high school gymnasium locker room will be used as a community storm shelter.

STRAFFORD BRANCH OF THE SPRINGFIELD-GREENE COUNTY LIBRARY
Within view of Old Route 66, the automobile-themed Strafford Branch Library gives residents of this eastern Greene County community their own facility. The Strafford Branch occupies 2,500 square feet of leased space in Chestnut Plaza, an attractive shopping center south of Interstate 44 on State Highway 125. Near Strafford schools, the Library is easily accessible to students. Their hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-7pm; Friday & Saturday, 9:30am-6pm.

CITY POST OFFICE
The Strafford Post Office, located at 125 South Washington, offers normal delivery to both city and rural routes. P.O. boxes are also available. Daily pickup Monday-Friday happens at 4:30pm; Saturday is at 11:30am. Post Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm (closed for lunch 11:30am-12:30pm) and Saturday 8:30am-11:30am.
